Deacon Brodies

Deacon Brodies is one of three pubs in the world to draw its name from the legendary vagabond. Providing inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous story of Jekyll and Hyde, Deacon Brodie was by day an Edinburgh city councillor and a gambling thief by night. By 1788, Brodie’s double life had caught up with him and he was hung for his crimes. His legend lives on however, long after the scoundrel was sent to the gallows. Situated on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile, Deacon Brodies is a traditional pub that’s imbued with warmth, charm and character. Step inside and browse a fine selection of real ales plus a number of fine malt whiskies. If you’re feeling peckish, a simple menu offers pub classics that are freshly cooked and bursting with flavour. Comfort food such as venison sausage and mash is the perfect fare for a winter’s day, while Deacon Brodies’ peri-peri burger – served with chorizo, red pepper and spicy sauce – will command your undivided attention from the moment it arrives sizzling from the kitchen.
